Dear Neighbor re: YOUR cat

YOUR cat

YOUR cat is crying at my front door because he doesn’t know how to live outside.
YOUR cat is very hungry (he doesn’t know how to hunt so has been stealing food from the feral cats for a while now).
YOUR cat is very thirsty he doesn’t know how to drink out of the pool like the feral cats.
YOUR cat is scared of dogs and doesn’t know how to interact around other cats (even the feral kitten is bossing him around and hissing)

YOUR cat wants to roll over to have his tummy rubbed
YOUR cat wants to have his ears scratched
YOUR cat wants to live the high life and not have to fend for himself

Could you have at least left a note?

Within 2 minutes of meeting YOUR cat he was rubbing against my leg and letting me pet his head he even played a little.
YOUR cat doesn’t belong outside with the feral cats.
At least he still has his claws (he let me touch his paws and I could feel them).

He is very skinny but otherwise seems just fine. PLEASE come and get YOUR cat!

  1. Poor kitty. 🙁

PS. Our direct next door neighbors do not have a cat. It just sounded like a better title then hey idiot stop dumping your cats on my property and find them proper homes. Sorry for the confusion.

  3. That poor cat needs to be rescued, since he does not have outdoor survival skills. Any cat rescues in your area?

  4. this post brought tears to my eyes. It saddens me so much when people are neglectful of their pets.
It made me so very, very sad….
Thanks for posting but I need tissue….

Poor thing. I completely disagree with people's thought that cats are happier outside. Cat's don't want to have to fend for themselves, they shouldn't have to. We have a cat that comes around from time to time, he does seem to like it outside, but I really want to take him in. I hate worrying about him and I have no idea who actually owns him. If I did I would give them a piece of my mind.
I am the happy mom to 4 indoor cats.

  6. My indoor cat LOVES to be outdoors. But we are outside with him every minute! Even without his front claws he can (and does) catch voles and mice in our yard. But, we watch him constantly and are there to rescue him when a baby rabbit tricks him into hopping the fence into our neighbor's backyard. As with most situations, proper supervision is the key, whether it's cats, dogs…or our children!

  7. This was such a disturbing but obviously very necessary post. My 7 cats all live indoors with their 4 cat boxes. I would not dream of even letting my cats step outside the door. I absolutely have no use for someone that cannot take care of their animals by providing proper food, shelter, health care & certainly much love! Thanks for your post even though the entire subject makes my blood boil!

Poor, needy little kitty. And how nice that you're calling attention to his plight. I hope your neighbor gets the message.

  9. I got my dog because he was dumped on the streets of Indiana, thank goodness the local rescue group saved him from the high kill shelter. He is a wonderful addition to our home, and one of the sweetest dogs. I just don't understand people who dispose of their pets so easily.

This poor little guy touched my heart. I have six cats, all but one of them rescues from the animal hospital where I work. It hurts my heart to think that any of them could have ended up like this cat.

I hope your neighbor sees this and does the right thing, but I wouldn't hold out much hope for that. Your neighbor doesn't sound very…compassionate, smart, caring, or whatever word you want to use to describe someone who would abandon an animal.

  11. That is so sad. Cats are not meant to be left out like that. I don't understand how people can just cast off pets.
A little ironically, I did just write a post about my very spoiled kitty.

That is so sad, the poor little kitten! He is too thin. I wish his owners will come to their senses and start to take care of this precious fellow.

  13. I really hate people sometimes. I hope you find another home for this kitty and if the neighbor comes over, you say “nope, never saw him”.

  14. Kirby's mom here-my neighbor also thinks her cat needs to be outside playing with the feral cats. She actually thinks this is good for her cat, who after playing with the feral cats then comes into her house. She also has a dog that she lets run loose too. One of the feral cats has a really bad case of mange or something too…and this doesn't bother her! UGGHH!
I like you blog by the way!
