Teddy Bear Dog Treats

Ingredients for your Teddy Bear Dog Treats:

3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
2 cups wheat bran
1 cup cornmeal
2 C whole wheat flour
1 C rye flour
1/3 C nonfat dry milk powder
2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
1/4 C warm water
2 C chicken broth
Note: Be sure to use an onion free broth! If you can’t find any and don’t have any chicken you can boil in two cups of water yourself you can use plain water instead. Your dog will love the boiled chicken as a speak treat so don’t feel like the boiled chicken would go to waste because it will not!

Icing Ingredients:
2 oz unsweetened yogurt
2 TBSP honey
brown & black food coloring
Directions:
-Preheat oven to 300 degrees. Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper.
-Add the yeast to the warm water. Stir in the chicken broth.
-Scoop the flour, bran, cornmeal, whole wheat flour, rye flour and non-fat dry milk powder into the yeast mix. Work it to combine all of the ingredients;
-Dough will be stiff.
-On a lightly floured board roll dough out to 1/3 to 1/2 inch thick.
-Using the cookie cutter cut out the teddy bear treats.
-Bake at 300 degrees for 1 hour.
-Turn oven off and leave for at least 4 hours in oven to harden.

Icing Directions for your Teddy Bear Dog Treats:

-Combine the yogurt and honey, stirring until completely blended.
-Take one TBSP of icing out and stir in black gel food coloring.
-Spoon the icing into a piping bag with a #2 tip.
-With remaining icing add several drops of brown gel food coloring. Stir well.
-Spoon the brown icing into a piping bag with a #2 tip.
-Refer to the picture of the bear to assist in completing the bear.
-With the brown icing add small dots to the bears ears, paws, and feet.
-Add an egg shaped small dot for the nose and a larger one for the stomach.
-Allow the icing to dry.
-Store in the refrigerator until they are served.
