Snowflake Dog Treats
It’s that time of year when we are all in the kitchen creating feasts fit for a winter wonderland. Maybe your dog is off by the fireplace staying warm or under your feet as everything is cooking. Why no make something special for your dog this year? We don’t know very many dogs that give up a peanut butter treat but mix that with pumpkin and cinnamon and your re almost guaranteed success. Whip up a batch of these Pumpkin Peanut Butter Dog Treats and let us know what your dog thinks of these special snowflakes.
Ingredients for your Pumpkin Peanut Butter Dog Treats
:
2 1/2 cups whole wheat flour
2 eggs, room temp
1/2 C pumpkin puree
2 TBSP creamy peanut butter
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp cinnamon
Icing Ingredients:
2 C white carob chips
1 tsp vegetable oil
Cookie Cutter:
Snowflake
Directions to make your own Snowflake Dog Treats:
-Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Use parchment paper to line a cookie sheet.
-Combine the flour, eggs, pumpkin, peanut butter, salt, and cinnamon in a bowl. Whisk together.
-Pour in water as needed to help make the dough workable, the dough should be dry and stiff.
-Roll the dough out on a floured cutting board.
-Cut out the reindeer treats with the snowflake cookie cutter.
-Bake at 350 degrees for 40 minutes or until hard.
Icing Directions:
-Combine white carob chips and vegetable oil in a double boiler just to melting point.
-Allow to cool slightly before spooning it into a piping bag with a #2 tip.
-Following the outline on the pictures.
-Make the lines from one tip of your Pumpkin Peanut Butter Dog Treats to the other tip. Add a few additional short lines at the very tip of your snowflake dog treats.
-Allow to dry completely and store the rest in the refrigerator until you serve them.
Remember to always treat in moderation. One of these giant snowflake dog treats might last your dog a day or several days.
