Lee Hyori Korean Pop-Star and beauty icon, released a special edition Lee Hyori Calendar, featuring photos of the icon herself posing with her adopted dog, Soon Shim. The calendar, which was made strictly to raise money for abused, neglected, and unwanted animals, sold out quickly to fans and fellow animal supporters hoping they would arrive in time for the Holidays. The calendar which is selling for 12,000 Korean Won roughly equivalent to $10.50 has been in such high demand now that fans have already been putting in requests for pre-orders for a second batch. To promote the calendar even further she held a calendar signing event with fans lined up down the block to meet her and get her to sign their calendar.
She also lent her voice to the new Don’t Shop, Adopt campaign video which has made quite a splash in Korea. The hope is that by seeing the video people will not only adopt their next pet instead of going to pet shops but that they will also think twice about abusing a dog or ignoring their dog. Obviously this video is targeting the younger generation but but it is hitting home for Koreans of all ages. I was able to find a video with English translation so you can get an idea about what the video is saying.
The number of dogs that are abandoned in Korea in one year is 100,000.

All proceeds from the sale of Hyori & Soon-sim calendar, available on First Look, will be donated to “Korean Society For Animal Freedom.” I don’t think they ship to the US but the site is in Korean so I guess you would need to have a friend order one for you and send it.
