Puppy Rescued from Drainage Pipe

Seems like we are still having a problem with video at the moment even if we have access to our blog. Here is the link to the video if it doesn’t show up above.

Thursday’s heavy rain trapped a at least 4 puppies inside a drainage ditch in Corpus Cristi, Texas. City crews and other organizations worked for about 6 hours to rescue the puppy after it got trapped in the downpour. An animal rescuer said the mother dog had the litter inside the drainage pipe, and the puppies remained there ever since.

By late evening, the water had saturated the pipes and was still rising. City crews, folks from Royal Plumbing, and the organization “For The Love Of Strays” came out to help rescue the family. Two were rescued pretty quickly, but two remained in the pipe. One of the missing two was believed to be dead in the pipe. Its seems that all the puppies made it out and were reunited with their momma. Crews immediately doused the last muddy puppy with water, and it appeared to be in relatively good health, given the dangerous and traumatic experience it had been through. It will need to be checked by a vet as rescuers could hear some water in its chest. Hopefully this happy ending will just be the beginning of new happy lives for the entire family.

  1. The fourth puppy was miraculously found eight days later. This is a link to the local news report after he was found.

For The Love Of Strays has started a support page for the puppies and their heartworm positive mom.

We are in need of some help to cover the vet bills.
