5 Ways to Memorialize Your Dog

How to Memorialize Your Dog

Losing a dog is never easy, but having a way to memorialize them is a wonderful way to ease the pain. Memorializing your dog doesn’t have to be complex or expensive. In fact, there are quite a few ways that cost little to nothing. Such memorials can really honor the dog, as well as bring you some peace. Take a look below at 5 ways to memorialize your dog so you never forget how amazing they were.

1. Plant a tree or flower garden to memorialize your dog.
Plant a tree or create a f lower garden in memory of your dog. This is a great way to gift the beauty to the other creatures, in nature in honor of the dog. If you have your own yard and plan on staying put you might consider placing your dog’s ashes here so that you can enjoy the garden.

If you don’t have a yard of your own can even see about planting a tree at a local dog park to memorialize your dog. Something that will grown large and provide shade for the dog’s that play there for years to come. Maybe even a flowering tree that will add beauty to the park.

2. Make a stepping stone to memorialize your dog.
Buy a stepping stone kit from your local craft store. You can place the dog’s picture in the stone or even just his name. It is not a bad idea to save your dog’s paw imprints in the stones prior to them passing if at all possible. When complete, display the stepping stone in a garden.

3. Make a donation to a charity.
Make a donation in the dog’s name to a local charity. A local rescue shelter is a great choice and will see that dog’s are helped and well taken care of, all thanks to him!

4. Create a photo collage.
Gather all of your favorite pics and create a photo collage. Display it where everyone can see and remember their fond memories of the pet. A picture says a thousand words, so a picture collage is a great way to put your memories out there. If the images are digital you can create a video of all of the happy times you had together. Your hurt and pain might be too deep in the days and weeks after their passing so save those pictures so that when you are ready you can create a beautiful tribute to your dog.

5. Create a custom piece of art.
Have a hand stamped charm made (Etsy is great for this) that includes the dog’s name or first Initial. You can add charms such as a paw print or bone if you would like. Find a jewelry piece that allows you to remember the dog fondly and keep him close to your heart. There are even places that will infuse your dog’s ashes into hand blown glass pieces that you can wear or place on your mantle.

Give these options your consideration when thinking about ways to make sure your dog always in your heart and never forgotten!
