Bil-Jac Training Treats are the perfect stocking stuffer!
I don’t usually share very much company information in a Review or Giveaway but I think you might be just as surprised as I was when I really took a look at Bil-Jac products. I of course have seen them at the store in the past but have never picked up their food or treats because I some how had this idea in my head that they were an inferior product. And that is exactly why I was surprised that they approached me about a Giveaway. I was ready to say no but something made me take a look at their products. I think it was the fact that in the email they included a graphic of some of the Bil-Jac Training treats including a Grain Free option. What I learned has made me reconsider the company and the products they offer. Like with all companies that we work with I would love to go and meet the company and the people that work there and see their process in action so that I can share that information with all of you.
About Bil-Jac
Bil-Jac was created by two brothers in 1947 after their tour in the armed forces during World War II. The company’s initial product was Bil-Jac Frozen Dog Food – a superior quality pet food that would fill a gap in the pet food market at that time. In the 1970’s customers started asking about a dry dog food but the company was not willing to produce one until hey could find a source of meat that lived up to their standards and they could come up with a production process that would not deplete the food of important vitamins and nutrients. It took the founders 10 years to come up with a solution so that they could offer their customers the dry dog food that they were asking for. In the mid 1980’s the company came out with its first dry dog food using their very own vacuum drying process. A process that allowed them to cook the food at about half the temperature of traditional dry food thus keeping the nutrients and vitamins intact.
Bil-Jac traditionally does not employ mass marketing campaigns instead relying on word of mouth and happy customers. The company achieves this goal is by getting potential customers to put Bil-Jac products to the test. In what they call the Bil-Jac Challenge. The procedure is simple: “Take a small amount of Bil-Jac food and, at a regular feeding time, place it next to a small amount of the pet’s usual food, then let the pet decide.”

He rolls over – he’s a big black lab so it is quite a trick.
He’s a toy poodle, we trained him to walk on his back to legs like the poodles do in the circus.
We taught him sit first.
Barkly’s is “dance for it” for a treat. Vlad’s is “gimme a hug.” For Vlad it really is a trick because he had to be taught to gently do it so he doesn’t knock me down. He does it in 2 stages. First he puts his paws on my waist in a sitting position, then he stands up after I put my hands under his paws to raise them to my shoulders.
Raising the Roof!
