The Gordonston Ladies Dog Walking Club – Review

The Gordonston Ladies Dog Walking Club by Duncan Whitehead

Book Review

The Gordonston Ladies Dog Walking Club by Duncan Whitehead

A hit man is in the park. He has prepared everything to the specifics of the contract. The body is not to be found for a week. He smokes menthols. Someone opens the park gate and comes into this small neighborhood park. Someone is not going to be around for the afternoon walk…

Three friends sit in a nice historical Savannah neighborhood park while their dogs play. They gossip about a friend and member of their group dying of cancer in the neighborhood while drinking their afternoon cocktails in red plastic cups. They talk of the soon to be widower and each of them have their own designs where he is concerned. They gossip about the old man who walks his little white terrier and the cute young couple that moved into the neighborhood. Nothing seems to escape their notice that occurs in their little neighborhood. These are the members of the Gordonston Ladies Dog Walking Club.

However, Nothing and no one is what it seems in this book.

The storyline of The Gordonston Ladies Dog Walking Club is reminiscent of most of the current television programs that you might see on any given night. I can easily see this book made into a series or made for television movie. The layout of the plot is cut with what looks to be perfect scene changes. This is a television pilot disguised as a novel. That is not a complaint mind you just an observation on my part. My only problem with the book is the flashback that begins the book seemed a little too contrived.
If you like a fast-paced, soap opera, mystery type of book then, you will enjoy the tale of The Gordonston Ladies Dog Walking Club by Duncan Whitehead. I do hope that Mr. Whitehead writes another book regarding the GLDWC as I would like to see what happens next with the ladies of the Gordonston neighborhood.

Mr. Whitehead deserves a call from Hollywood or at least Lifetime for this novel.
