Milk Bone has donated between 30 and 50 service dogs to people each year for the past 14 years. Kroger has now partnered with Milk Bone to sponsor a service dog for 10 more people in need per year. People who receive the service dogs look at them as a living breathing tool to gain more independence, increase mobility and help them to become more productive members of society. The dogs are trained by Canine Assistants, a nonprofit in Alpharetta,Georgia. They raise the dogs and train them to help adults and children with physical disabilities.
The service dogs donated by Kroger and Milk-Bone, a corporate sponsor of Canine Assistants, have been given to children and adults with various disabilities in Atlanta, Richmond, Memphis, Louisville, Wichita and Phoenix. Customer purchases of Milk-Bone products from participating Kroger, Dillon and Fry’s stores helped make the donation possible.
