Baby Hits Dog Repeatedly Parents Continue Filming Video #ParentingFAIL

I am sharing this video not because I think it is cute. Or because this has to be the most patient dog on the face of the planet. But because of what is going on in this video with the baby hitting the dog in the head and the parents (or whoever it is filming this) don’t even bother to say “be gentle” or “nicely” or “we don’t hit” or “careful” they just keep filming so that they can load the video and have it go viral. #parentingfail

What happens when one day the baby hits the dog in the eye and the dog bites out of pain or one day the dog decides it doesn’t want to play this game with the baby and the baby continues to hit the dog and put its face in the dogs face and hold it there? It will not be funny anymore when the dog who was once so gentle and patient with the baby and the baby winds up in the hospital. Whose fault it is then? Obviously the dog will be blamed and marked as an aggressive dog possibly killed. Babies need to be taught right and wrong and how to interact with the world around them in calm simple lessons like being gentle or no hitting.

There is no reason for this dog to bite or feel threatened or become injured by the baby if only the adults in the house would teach the baby to be gentle with the dog. And if the parents really don’t see anything wrong with what took place in this video then they need to attend parenting classes and dog training classes.

I am not a dog behavior expert or a child care expert but I do know that this video and the behaviors in it are a recipe for potential disaster.

  1. That’s terrible. 🙁

  2. Sure its only a baby, but the parents need to be teaching him at a young age to love and respect animals.

I have owned dogs since I was a young child. We’ve always had a dog in the house, even when I moved out and had children of my own. To this day, I am ALWAYS extremely careful with my kids around other dogs(as well as our own) AND I am always careful in teaching other children how to be around MY dog. My dog is about the most patient dog in the world, takes a beating here and there from tots that visit, but he is STILL a dog. Yes, he is part of my family and considered to be one of my children lol, but he is STILL an animal. My son (when he was 2) snuck behind the recliner at a friends house and tried taking a piece of candy from the dog at her house. This dog has always been protective and caring with our babies at the time. He bit my son in the face, and we had to rush him to the hospital and get stitches. He now has the cutest dimple ever on his one cheek and had to have his lip stitched back together. My point being…no matter how PATIENT or caring a dog is, they are ANIMALS and can turn at any moment if feeling threatened or in danger. Animal instincts are not something that can be bred out of a dog. It is insanity that these folks just sat there and filmed this. I pray that someone else in that childs life teaches them that animals are animals and need to be respected as such.

I almost want to hit the person filming on the head a few times… This is just wrong and irresponsible.
