Man Who Uploaded Video of Dog Being Abused is Being Investigated

The man who uploaded the video of the Strafordshire Bull Terrier being beaten is now being investigated by police. They say that by uploading the video of the abuse that he incited a crowd (50+ people gathered in front of the abuser’s house). The crowd supposedly smashed the abusers window and punched him but reports have not been confirmed at this time. The abuser had been reported to the RSPCA which had done nothing as well as to the police who also did not respond to the report. That is when Michael Currie uploaded the video below to Youtube and then posted it to Facebook and twitter.

The video, shot from a neighbouring window, shows what seems to be a white Staffordshire bull terrier being hit with a pipe, smacked with a towel, kicked, punched in the face and repeatedly hit. All of this was done while a small child was in the house and in some footage was watching the abuse.

Within hours of the footage being posted on social networking site Facebook, an angry mob is said to have surrounded the man’s house in Grimsby, north-east Lincolnshire. That is what police are investigating. Mr. Currie does not believe he should be under investigation for what he did. If the police or RSPCA had investigated and stopped the abuse after he reported it he would not have had to resort to the court of public opinion about what this person was doing to his dog in order to get more people to report him and get authorities to act. His only intention was to get what was happening to the dog out there to the public so they could help him stop the abuse.

Jamie Balderson, – a friend of Mr Currie – told the Grimsby Telegraph he has launched a complaint against the police as he claims that he called them at about 6:20pm and was told to report the issue to the RSPCA, which he did. If the police had acted on his report or the reports filed before his the crowd would not have had a chance to gather and the man would have been arrested. No one would have smashed windows and alleged violence against the abuser would not have occurred.

People who are upset at the fact that police are investigating Michael Currie have set up a Facebook page in his support.

  1. The Road Dogs says

Thanks so much for bringing this to our attention. Signed the petition. How insane that this man is under investigation and finding himself on the defense for trying to help a helpless animal being abused. What kind of world is this? They should leave him alone so he can do more good!

  2. This man should be rewarded not investigated. I think he is a hero for what he did, along with the angry mob. I am just jealous I didn’t get to be there to join them. Maybe if the justice system actually did something about this abuse and all other animal abuse cases this wouldn’t of happened. I think if more of us followed this example they might eventually open their eyes and do something.

  3. What else should we do if the law does nothing? This man should be awarded for his video, not punished! I hope someone gets that dog out of there. And if the abuser is treating a living creature this way, I think it would be a good idea to investigate how he is treating his children.
