Its just another day in the life of Oakland County Sherrif’s Office dog Blitz. On Tuesday Blitz the drug-sniffing dog detected more than 100 pounds of marijuana stashed in a Michigan-bound plane. The discovery happened Tuesday at the Pontiac-Oakland airport in Waterford, where, records show, Homeland Security pilots awaited the arrival of a private aircraft that originated in Lincoln, California known for its marijuana growers.

The Customs and Border Portection pilots and officials asked to search the aircraft, but were refused admittance. That’s when Blitz, the drug detection dog with the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office, was called to the scene. Blitz went nose-to-nose with the aircraft, and sniffed drugs in a storage bin near the plane’s nose, official records show. The subsequent revealed numerous silver colored foil bags containing a green leafy substance, which turned out to be marijuana along with other drug paraphernalia.

  1. Dogs are amazing! And who is silly enough to try and transport 100 pounds of marijuana without thinking they’d get caught?
