Oshkosh police received a call on March 31 that there was a dead dog lying on the sidewalk. Authorities picked up the dog and took it to a vet to have a necropsy to determine how the dog died. The necropsy necropsy stated the dog died from organ failure due to extreme malnutrition that was complicated by dehydration and exposure. During their investigation into the matter it came to the attention of the Oshkosh Police that the dog was owned by Samantha Braatz and Bryan Hutcherson.
Police picked up both individuals for questioning. During questioning it is said that Hutcherson admitted to police that he stopped feeding the dog who was called Snoop because, “it was becoming too stressful and costing too much money.”
Police then executed a search warrant at the apartment that the couple shared. Police found another pit bull puppy inside a cage. The puppy, known as Diamond, had a hard time standing or moving in the cage and police said the dog was very skinny and appeared to be starving.
Hutcherson is charged with mistreatment of animals causing death, a felony that carries a maximum penalty of three years six months in prison. Braatz faces up to four years, three months in prison and fines of $20,000 if convicted.
Court officials have since learned that Braatz is pregnant with Hutcherson’s baby.

I hate reading stories like this. Hopefully they get the max penalty of their sentence and not a slap on the hand for good behavior and let loose to do this again.
