300 Animals Seized From Home and Pet Bloggers Blog Hop

Just some of the animals found on the property

Nearly 300 animals were seized in and around a home in Jackson County in what police call one of the biggest animal cruelty cases ever. When investigators arrived they couldn’t even find the animals that had sparked the investigation but conditions on the property were so bad a warrant was immediately sought. Kimberly and Seth Maher the owners of the home where the 300 animals were found were both charged with 63 counts of animal cruelty and are currently in jail. The investigation will probably be on going as authorities come to grips with everything that was going on at the property. At the time of the report the number of animals was still undetermined.

When the Sheriffs office arrived at the property what they found was unthinkable — dead animals, burned animals, malnourished animals and animals of every size breed and species found on a farm only in numbers so large that none were receiving proper care. Chickens, turkeys and geese could be seen running in the mud among dead animals and without food or water. Behind the home, a burning pile where police say dogs were dumped and burned to death.

Instead of admitting that the animals in danger when the owner, Seth Maher, arrived home, he questioned deputies saying all of the animals were in good health. However this isn’t the first time this couple has been accused of Animal Cruelty they faced charges which somehow were dropped when they lived in the state of Virginia. Most of the animals will remain on the property under the care of the humane officers where the care for them by the officers will be billed to the property owners.

  7. Thank you for hosting.
My inclination is to say “thank you” for sharing the story about this atrocious animal cruelty, but it breaks my heart to hear of things like that. So “thank you” may not be the right phrase.
At any rate, I’m a follower, and this hop is found on a page on my site that lists more than 250 hops, memes, and photo challenges… some for each day of the week. Check under the header for the link to that page. I’ve also just started a BlogFrog community that focuses on hops, carnivals, memes, and photo challenges. Go to to visit & participate.
I hope you’ll visit me soon. I follow back!

  8. Hi Y’all,

    Thanks for hosting again!

It is a failure of our system that allows people to move to another state or county and continue mistreating animals. I fail to understand why they get so many animals when they are unable to care for them. It is so horrible for the animals and oh those poor humane officers who have to clean up that mess.

We hope y’all have a wonderful Memorial Day weekend.

    Y’all come by now,
