Update on Feral Kitten

Feral Kitten went to the vet this morning. She wasn’t happy in the car at all she cried the whole way there. When we got there though she was completely silent and calm like going to the vet and meeting strange people is a regular occurrence for her. She weighs just over 5 lbs and is pretty immature overall. The vet thought her age was 6 months to a year but I told him I am pretty sure it is closer to two years.

Her leg looks great. While the wound is deep it has scabbed over and is not swollen or infected so the vet feels the best thing for her is to just let it heal on its own. He said she didn’t need antibiotics and doesn’t seem to be in any pain at all. She let him shave the area with the big clippers and then clean it with some solution and didn’t even fuss. She has the opposite of a temperature at 99 something but he wasn’t concerned because she is alert and her heart sounded fine and her wound looks clean. He thinks she might have just been cold because she was so calm considering she is eating and drinking without a problem. Though she did refuse the treats I brought with me as a peace offering for the vet to give her. I know cats aren’t supposed to choose carbohydrates over other foods but Feral Kitten has a thing for the noodles that come with Chinese Soup.

The vet thinks by next week the scab should fall off and she will be just fine and tearing down the walls to get back outside. The dogs have wanted to be near her constantly and have actually spent most of the last two days just sleeping next to her while she is in the crate.
