My Sincere Apologies

Dear Friends, Readers, and Followers,
It was point out to me earlier today by another Blogger that the Reviews and Giveaways we find using the Tomoson website now embeds a text link to a completely unrelated advertiser to the company the Review is for. I believe this is in very bad taste and looks like spam at the bottom of my post. I will be doing what I can in order to remedy the situation. Since finding out I sent the following email to Tomoson. As soon as I receive a response I will add it to this post and retweet as an update so you can follow along with what happens. I am completely willing to forgo my relationship with Tomoson if they feel their current practice is something they would like to keep in place. While I do have several upcoming potential Reviews and Giveaways for companies that advertised through the Tomoson site I will not apply for anything more until a satisfactory resolution is reached.

Again I apologies for this event and am working to remedy the situation.

Dear Tomoson,
It was pointed out to me today that you have now added a text link of YOUR sponsor into the code we have to put into our reviews.

This is unfair as we all work very hard to get our blogs where they are. We are working with a specific company who sent us product which comes out of their budget and their bottom line in order to get their name out there. Bloggers put in a lot of time and hard work into our work and only Tomoson benefits from this.

Furthermore it looks like somehow a spam link got put onto my blog considering my Blog is about Pets. When I apply for specific products that could be pet related but are not being advertised as such I contact the sponsor to ask about the product and make sure it is ok with the company to advertise it as a Pet Friendly product even if that means forgoing the original intention of their campaign.

I honestly have no need for someone to be advertising human wigs for sale on my blog unless they somehow have a relationship with my readers (own pets themselves which I would talk about in the Review or a portion of their sales go to animal rescue again which I would point out.)

If you want to make money for your own pockets please consider ads on YOUR site or charge companies to post their giveaway information. You are going to loose a lot of Bloggers with your new policy. It is rude to the Bloggers and the companies we are working with that another company gets FREE advertising in a post they “paid” for.

Considering we see none of that money. You are abusing your connection with Bloggers. If a company prefers to pay for a text ad then maybe you could charge them a set price and allow Bloggers with specific stats to join the campaign as paid bloggers to put the text link on their site.

Felissa

I guess they received a ton of emails about the situation and how upset all Bloggers are about the new policy. I just received this follow up.

Felissa,
We did this to help keep the site free for everyone so more promoters would join but we have decided to go in a different direct will be removing the sponsor next week.

Thanks for the understanding,
Dan Fernandez

  1. wow that is pretty tacky of them but if it makes you feel any better I didnt even see it until after I read this and went back to look 😀 I guess it could be worse, it could be a banner! Hope they change it back for you guys!

  2. YUCK – I just signed up for a ton of campaigns with them and then started seeing this on the current postings. I am so unimpressed. 🙁 I really hope they consider reversing this decision to add spam to our posts…

  3. Wow, that was not a good business move, and definitely not handled respectfully with bloggers! Kudos to you, for going directly to them about them. The end results are sounding promising!

  4. They sent an e-mail to my (Pam) saying that they were going to start something like that. Maybe they didn't sent it to everyone somehow…

I completely agree. I look forward to seeing how they reply.

  6. your letter is very well written and says everything I'm thinking. I'm not thrilled at all by Tomoson doing this. I'm sick by it. I will be editing out the advertisement from my disclaimer. And until they stop this I will stop applying for reviews. ugh. so not cool. can't wait to hear what they have to say.

  7. I have signed up for a few of those campaigns myself. Had I known, I would have been emailing them, too.

  8. Felissa Hadas says

Its not something they can randomly institute. Some of the products take weeks to get to me and I don't always post the day after I receive something so it could be a month later before I post a Review and Giveaway. It isn't fair on their part to create new rules and put them into effect immediately.

  9. I didnt get an email that they were doing it until one of my posts had a blurb about Wigs in the disclosure. At first I thought Tomoson just messed up the code but then I saw the email they had sent out saying they would have a weekly sponsor. I don't want people thinking “I” support their sponsor – especially when it is COMPLETLY unrelated to what the review/giveaway was about. I edited the weekly sponsor part out of my post.
