Happy Aloha Friday

The way it works is you post a short question on your blog and link up each week at An Island Life the hostess of this event so others can come and visit your blog and answer your question. Everyone can post their own question just make sure to keep it family friendly.

Our question for you:
Growing up what did your family do for New Year’s Eve?

Growing up for New Year’s Eve my family would rent a movie and take out from a local Resturant. It was the same thing every year we would get some Caviar Cream Cheese and these Mozzarella Triangles. Its possible we also had some pasta but I really don’t remember since the other two thing stood out more. We would eat dinner and then watch a movie and go to sleep. I think I was probably 13 or 14 before I could force myself to stay awake in bed to watch the ball drop

Maybe the fact that we would stay in and have a quiet night at home is why to this day it is not the biggest deal if I go to sleep before watching the ball drop. When I was in college in NYC I would leave to go to my aunt and uncle’s in New Jersey for New Year’s Eve. Ok so the first New Year’s Eve was Y2K and my parents did not want me in the city in case something happened so they asked me to go to my aunt and uncles house and then it sort of became a tradition to go out there each year. Now I just really could care less if I am awake to watch the ball drop.

You know, I don't remember our family doing anything for New Year – I'll have to ask my mom! I'm pretty sure us kids were sent to bed at our normal time, while my parents stayed up and played cards with friends…heh, heh!

    Happy New Year! 🙂

I grew up in the orphanage. It was not a fun time for us. Just another day, this is why holidays are always sad for me.

    Happy new Years.

Growing up we would hang out at home, have fun finger foods, and then watch the events from NYC.
