Keeping a Post Visible or Easily Findable

I was asked to explain how you keep a specific post at the top of your blog or how to make it easy for a visitor to find a specific post without spending hours searching your blog. Here are some step by step directions for Blogger and WordPress. Hope this help.

Click on New Post once in the screen where you can create a post look at the top of the page at the tabs and Click on Design.

Click Add Gadget and then scroll down until you see the one that says HTML / Java Script.

Click on it and it will open a new small window that says configure HTML / Java Script.

Be sure to put in a Title ie Giveaway Hop 4 Pets
For the Content section  you can explain the giveaway briefly ie Dog Blanket Giveaway ends 11/25 linking to your post. If you have multiple listings in this section you will need to use HTML code in order to create line breaks. This is really easy to do all you need to do is use the following:

In the Post editor find the “Publish” section.
Next to “Visibility” click on edit and then check the “Stick this post to the front page” option there.
Click save and you’re done.

or

Go into Quick Edit and check the box that says make this post a sticky.

(thank you for the quick edit tip Stacie you make WordPress sound so easy to use.)

  1. Thank you so much! This is a huge help 🙂

  2. I came over to find out about the upcoming hop and am learning so much. Can you tell me how to add the thing (plug in?) to WordPress that says when your blogroll last posted? I am redesigning my sidebar and reducing the numbers of blogs listed. Of course I have to make sure you are well represented.
    Thanks

Dogsmom I will see what I can find out for you. No promises I don't use WordPress but I think I know who I can ask if I can't find the solution for you myself.
