A British woman who angered her fellow countrymen by throwing a cat into a trash bin has been found guilty and fined for animal cruelty.
45-year-old Mary Bale was also forbidden to keep animals for the next five years.
The woman caused a public outrage after CCTV footage of her picking up a cat and dumping it into the bin appeared on the Internet.
At the court, Bale could not explain her actions, saying her move was “impulsive”. Her lawyer said she has been under “tremendous strain” – her father died last week and he was seriously ill at the time of the incident, Reuters reports.

I wish there was a little more info in this report esp. how the cat is now and if he/she has bene adopted. I'm happy that the woman was convicted but if she actually injured the animal I think a fine is too lenient. Still, 10 years ago chances are nothing would have happened to someone who did this, at least in the USA.
Thank you for posting about this.

From what I understand the cat belongs to a neighbor and is fine.
At least that is some justice!
What is happening to people in this world. We all come under stress at different times of our lives…how is that an excuse for dumping a poor defenseless animal in the garbage. If that is an acceptable excuse for terrible behaviour then what's next? How very sad. I'm guessing if it was the neighbours cat she may have been annoyed with it for some reason but there are always more peaceable solutions to our frustrations.
