If you have been thinking of adding a new addition to your home this is the time to take action to make it happen. Even if you start you search in your own living room in front of the computer to figure out which breed of dog is right for you it is a step in the right direction. Figure out what matters most to you about your new addition and go from there.
Are you looking for:
- an exercise buddy?
- a best friend and confidant for your child?
- a dog you can train with to learn animal-assisted therapy?
- a partner in agility competitions?
- a constant companion for your favorite senior citizen?
- a fuzzy face to greet you after a hard day at work?
There are so many dogs awaiting their special homes. Today you can see a dog online that you fall in love with and even if it is thousands of miles away you can work with the rescue or shelter to figure out a way to get it to your home. Don’t think that just because you are looking for a particular breed doesn’t mean they aren’t in shelters all breeds have breed specific rescues sometimes you can even find young puppies in need of a home. You just need to look. The biggest thing you need to know is that yes some of these dogs will have special needs because of their background but there are so many dogs and animals in general being turned in because their owners just can’t keep them anymore. These animals have been family pets their whole lives and are confused and upset that their owners are gone they just need someone to show them love and compassion and they will give you a lifetime of love.

Good post! I am so wanting a Doxie and as soon as I can either talk my landlord into it or move, I'm getting one. But I didn't know that I could get one from across the country!
