Gluten Free Sweet Potato Dog Treats

With so much cooking about to get underway we thought we should share one more Fall Themed Dog Treat! Wat dog doesn’t LOVE sweet potato? And these Gluten Free cookies are sure to please even the picky dog owner. Sweet potato are a great source of vitamins and minerals that your dog needs especially as the weather turns colder and colder (just remember to remove the skin whenever offering any to your dog). The best part about these treats is that they are really simple to make with only 3 ingredients. These Sweet Potato Dog Treats can easily be turned into a project to give the little ones something to do while you are cooking Thanksgiving Dinner or when the weather is too cold to go outside and play.

These treats will also be gentle on your dog’s tummy so that you don’t have to worry about your dog getting sick when company is visiting.

Ingredients you will need for these Sweet Potato Dog Treats :

• 1 cup canned sweet potatoes (want to make this part yourself? Boil up a large sweet potato or add an extra one in the oven when you make sweet potatoes for your family. Remove from the skin and use a cup of fresh pipping hot sweet potato!)
• 1 ¾ cups of gluten free rice flour
• 1 egg (beaten)

Don’t forget a sprinkle of the magic ingredient…
Cinnamon! Just a dash will do you and have your dogs come running to the kitchen while these bake.

Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

In a medium sized mixing bowl, mix together sweet potatoes and gluten free rice flour until it is doughy. Add the beaten egg and thoroughly work it through the rest of the mixture. Be sure to not over mix or the dough will be sticky and difficult to work with.

Roll dough into small balls and place the balls on a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper. Press cookie dough down until it is about ¼ to ½ inch thick and cut with desired cookie cutter.

Bake 12-15 minutes or until golden brown.

Let the goodies cool and serve up to your favorite furry friend!
