Why a Mobile Vet May Work For You
Mobile vets are starting to become more popular as the need from city to city grows. You may be a dog owner who can benefit from a mobile vet, so finding one in your town may be advisable.
1. Your dog has social anxiety.
If your dog does not enjoy people or noisy social situations, a mobile vet coming to your home or a location that your dog is already used to is the perfect solution. It will keep your dog in a familiar environment while giving him the care he needs. It will also cut down on stress and anxiety to be able to go to their favorite store or park for their check up and get to play when it is over.
2. You are limited on money.
Mobile Vets often have special all inclusive packages far below the regular visit rate. While the exam might not be as thorough as if you were to get an appointment in a room one on one with the vet you are certainly welcome to point out anything you have noticed recently. It also ensures that your dog is up to date on their vaccinations. Maybe mobile vets have an actual office and do the mobile thing as a service to the community. Call their office to find out their vaccination protocol before arriving at the mobile clinic or to ask questions about what can and cannot be done during that visit.
3. Your dog doesn’t do well going to the vet.
Lots of dogs get nervous or upset about going to the vet. While they might not like getting vaccination or having blood drawn in reality they are playing off of your emotions not their own. Think about it from their perspective someone new pays attention to them, rubs their entire body, gives them a treat, lets them stand on the table or counters. You on the other hand are stressed about getting the dog in the car, getting them in the door, vaccinations, any bumps or lumps you may have found while grooming your dog, and what the bill is going to cost you when you leave. Of course your dog is nervous and thinks the vet is the worst place in the world if they can sense all that from you.
Using a mobile vet there is a set all inclusive fee. You don’t drive to the vet but somewhere less intimidating like the park or the local pet supply store and it is a fun event not a somber office visit.
4. Convenience.
Let’s face it, a vet coming to a place where you already go with your dog is great. After the appointment you can go for a romp in the park or pick up more dog food and treats or a special toy for your good dog. You can take multiple pets or invite a friend along to bring their dog for vaccinations. It becomes a Social thing instead of an office visit.
You can find a mobile vet in your area with a simple internet search, or you can ask other pet parents if there is one they recommend. It may be your new favorite way for your dog to get seen by a vet and up to date on vaccinations. We do however suggest you pay for an upgrade in service to ensure that the vet on duty at least listen to your dog’s heart and do a quick exam to check for anything you might not have noticed.

Mobile vets are becoming more popular and are also a great option for cats because they often do not travel well and have anxiety away from home. Great post! Much love, The Scottie Mom.
Hi Y’all!
Our mobile vets are a wee might different…we call them farm vets…they come out to treat the cows and horses. If the dogs and cats need any routine care, even neutering, the vet does that during the visit. Neutering is usually done on a clean bale of straw. The vet assistant is the owner or trusted farm hand. Nope, never had a problem. The human has to stay with the animal until it wakes up and is able to eat and drink and move around without being wobbly or disoriented. Never seen one of the “mobile clinics” anywhere other than on TV. (Hey, we have to drive an hour or longer to go to our own physician or even to shop)
