3 Easy Dog Treats You Can Make Yourself

Pumpkin Cube Dog Treats

Are you tired of the same old dog treats? If you are looking for some new ways to pamper your pooch, you need not look any further than your own kitchen. Without much fuss or even use of the oven you can make healthy treats for your dogs. In just minutes there are a variety of healthy snacks you can feed your dog that she is sure to enjoy. These treats can be made ahead of time and stored so that you can reach for one anytime, making them a treat that is inexpensive and convenient. Here are 3 easy dog treats you can make yourself so the next time you want to pamper your pooch, you will have the perfect treat on hand.

3 Easy Dog Treats You Can Make Yourself

1. Pumpkin Cubes
Buy 100% pumpkin in the can or puree your own boiled pumpkin. Take the mixture and pour it into ice cube trays. Freeze the trays. Your pup will love eating these pumpkin cubes just like a popsicle treat. These pumpkin cubes are also full of vitamin E, making them a healthy snack that is great for your dog’s skin and coat. Pumpkin helps with upset tummies too so if you make these and keep some in a freezer bag you can help get your dog back on track.

2. Peanut butter bites.
Dogs love peanut butter. Make some simple peanut butter bites by making a regular peanut butter sandwich. Cut the sandwich into small cubes and freeze the cubes. When your dog is ready for a treat, grab a cube and go. They will love the peanut butter taste and their body will benefit from the healthy oils and protein in it.

3. Turkey rolls.
Take fresh, cooked turkey and roll the meat in a dark, leafy green vegetable such as greens or kale. Dogs will love the taste of turkey and the fresh greens will add some much needed fiber to their diet. They will be so anxious for the turkey, they most likely won’t even notice it is wrapped in the greens. We recommend that you save some turkey the next time you make it instead of using deli slices which are loaded with chemicals and sodium which your dog does not need. Remember this can be small pieces of leftover turkey you are not making a meal just a few healthy treats to share with your dogs.

Well, I’m not sure of the PB bites, cause I’ve got one WEIRD dog! She hates PB, but will eat pretty much any vegetable you put in front of her (cooked or raw!) Strangest thing I’ve ever seen. I’m 50 and have had dogs forever, but have NEVER see one that will eat salad, green beans, peas, broccoli, tomatoes, carrots, etc. Now, you try to give her anything PB flavored, NO GO!!!! She’ll usually turn her nose up at it, but IF she should take it from you, you will find it somewhere else – virtually untouched!!! LOL!!!

  5. Hmmm…never gave our dogs frozen treats before. I have one that takes his treats to the grass or buries it before he eats it…lol. It might end up mush. Our second dog will eat anything though. Thanks for sharing these simple treat ideas.

  10. Hi Y’all!

My Human used to make a similar pumpkin treat for me. Now the vet has me off of everything but my dog food…even for treats. My Human Papa hates not being able to give me some of the fresh fruit that they are eating this time of year.

    Y’all come by now,

  11. My dogs would love all of those treats. They especially love anything with peanut butter but I might even be able to sneak the lettuce into Mr. Bo-Bo’s diet if there is turkey involved.
