Does My Pet Really Need to See the Vet Every Year?

With all of the other appointments you have to keep in life, you might be tempted to push your yearly pet examination aside. Perhaps your dog seems healthy and active, and you have not noticed any signs of trouble. However, this can still pose a danger to your pet and his health. If you are a proud dog owner, take a look below at why you shouldn’t skip yearly pet visits and instead, make sure you hold all appointments.
Take a look!
1. Not all symptoms are noticeable.
Vets know what symptoms to look for in your pet, and they may be ones that you easily brush off. What may seem like a simple rash or runny nose can actually be something more serious. So take your dog to the vet to have any and all symptoms examined by a professional who knows what to look for.
2. Symptoms can progress quickly.
What may seem minor can progress quickly, and this goes especially for any growths or lumps on your dog. In just a couple of weeks a growth can change and pose a serious risk to your dog, so staying on top of such symptoms is essential.
3. Aging pets need additional support.
Your dog’s years can go by quickly, so staying on top of their needs as they age is important. Don’t skip yearly visits, as your vet can give you the support and resources to make your aging pet more comfortable.
4. New products are always being introduced.
Your vet can make recommendations each year as far as your pet’s food, medication, and even toys. Skipping visits can cause you to miss out on these recommendations and possibly finding a new product your pet can benefit from.
5. Nothing can replace expert care.
The internet is full of resources these days, but nothing replaces the hands on care your vet can offer. Seeing your dog in person, running specialized tests, and monitoring records is a great way to keep your dog healthy.
So the answer to
“Does My Pet Really Need to See the Vet Every Year”
is don’t skip those yearly vet visits, they are the best way to keep your dog happy, healthy, and with you for years to come.

Not only do my pets see the vet every year, they see him MULTIPLE times during the year!! Vet care is highly important!

My mom always had a cat and when she left home, she had cats too but she rarely took the to the vet unless they were really sick. Now she is appalled at how naive she was. We all get our once a year check up and us dogs go at least one other time during the year for a mini visit. It is so important.

This is an eye opener since I don’t take my cat to the vet every year. She’s starting to get up there in age and I only want the best for her last days on earth. But, I’m more of a holistic person… i don’t like all the stuff they inject them with which causes problems in itself.

I agree all that a lot of things do cause a reaction themselves. There are Holistic vets practicing in many areas and there are acupuncturists that work with vets to help treat animals as well. For an indoor only cat you will likely only need a Rabies vaccination every few years. For an aging cat they will want to do Blood work to ensure that everything is functioning properly.
