Cavalier King Charles Spaniels Playing

Davinia and Indiana checking out the yard

We got our fence! After waiting for more then a moth for it to be installed we finally got it! We got a call yesterday afternoon letting us know that they would be here today to install the fence. Yay! This morning we went about our business of walking around the house a few times for our potty walk and then came inside to get to work waiting for the fencing people to arrive. About mid-morning I hear a truck pull up so I looked outside and saw a truck with fencing material. Well out walks one person and I thought they just wanted to make sure they were at the right house or wanted to go over some details with me before getting started. Nope! They only sent one person to install the fence. The poor guy was here all by himself with no helpers to move the giant roll of chain link or all of the pots or our gate or even the concrete for the posts to sit in.

Davinia and Indiana running together

He must have been a good guy because the girls even when I let them out on the balcony to check things out did not bark at him once. Cavalier King Charles Spaniels have a 6th sense and know who really likes downs and who just pretends or has bad thoughts in their head. If Indiana barks at you, you should really hold your head in shame Davinia you have a little more leeway sometimes. The took a look around and then went searching for the spider that have taken up residents on the balcony. had someone else come over to fix the last art of the floor (they had originally installed the wrong piece in one place and I pushed off their coming back to fix it because I was going to be down in Atlanta last Friday. So I put the girls in their crate downstairs and they fixed the floor. Instead of bringing the girls back upstairs I decided to just let them sleep in their crate and see how things went.

They must have know they needed to rest up because they did not stir even when I was right outside the door to the room they were in talking the to fence guy. The hours went by and we were down the the last half hour before I absolutely had to take the dogs for their before dinner potty time. I went outside checked the fence and was told another 10 – 15 minutes. Ok as long as I don’t do anything that might wake the girls we could stretch it. I had made sure the card was in the camera and that my new tablet was charged and ready to go so that I could take pictures of two very happy Cavalier King Charles Spaniels running around their very own yard for the first time. Yes, this is the first time since they came to live with me that they have had their very own fenced yard to play in!

As you can tell from all of the pictures they were non stop motion unless they were sniffing around in the grass, trying to dig in the mud, jumping up against the fence to see if they could maybe jump over it (I feel pretty safe that two old lady dogs are not clearing a 5 foot fence). I did manage to get a few short videos that I will work on getting up over the weekend but i wanted to share our first time in the yard pictures with all of you tonight. Davinia and Indiana ae both fast asleep on my bed. Yes, I had to clean their paws and halfway up their legs of all of the Orange Georgia clay but I don’t think they cared. They were really proud of themselves over how dirty they got and I had to be very inventive about getting all the orange clay off because the first place they decided to run was not to their dinner or water bowls but my bed.
