Digg Founder Protects Dog From Racoon Attack

Founder Kevin Rose of Digg the Social Media site that allows you to up vote stories and videos to help them go viral was faced with a choice late at night. He woke up to his dog yelping in pain and ran outside to see what was going on. He found his dog in a fight with a raccoon. He managed to pull the raccoon off of his dog and in a split second decision threw the animal down what was a flight of stairs. The fight and pulling the raccoon off of his dog was caught on camera. He got a hold of the footage and posted it online. But before the video plays he has a PSA saying that he does not encourage violence against any animal and that his only thought at that moment was to get the raccoon as far away from his dog as possible. Toaster Kevin Rose’s dog has some scratch and bite marks but is going well. We are unsure if the dog that was attacked was taken to the vet but we here at Two Little Cavaliers would certainly hope so. Raccoons can carry rabies and transmit them through biting. If your pet comes into contact with a Raccoon it is very important to visit the vet so that is can receive a rabies booster.

If your dogs rabies vaccination is up to date they likely will not have to go into quarantine. If you are able to trap the wild animal that attacked your dog call animal control and your local wild animal center to come and pick up the animal so a necropsy can be performed to ensure your dog will be safe and not transmit anything to you.
