Oxygen Masks for Pets Saves Dogs and Cats

This year at BlogPaws a donation of multiple Oxygen Masks for Pets was made to a local Fire Department. We know that right after the Conference the Fire Department used those masks to save the life of pets trapped in a home during a fire. In fact Fire Departments all over the country have used similar Oxygen Mask sets to save the live of everything from newborn kittens to horses in a barn fire.
Unfortunately in most areas as much as the Fire Department would like to purchase life saving Oxygen Masks for Pets they are not allowed to spend a single dollar of their budget on pet oxygen masks. Why? Because they will not help in saving the life of a human from a fire. If you are reading this blog post you probably agree that your pets are a part of your family and if G-d forbid there was a fire in your home and your pets were trapped you would want help saving them as well. But that tools to help your pet might not be available because of the rule that all expenditures have to go towards things that would help save the life of a person.
What can you do to help your local department obtain Oxygen Masks for Pets?
Fire and Police Departments are allowed to accept donations of pet oxygen masks from regular citizens or companies. A set of 3 different size masks cost $75 and includes:
The Wag’N O2 Fur Life® Kit includes:
3 Oxygen Masks – 1 small, 1 medium & 1 large
3 Oxygen Air Tubes -1 for each mask, 22 mm diameter
1 Wag’N O2 Fur Life Carry Bag for easy storage & mobility
1 Laminated Instruction Sheet which includes ABCs of CPR For Cats & Dogs
1 Kennel Lead for animal restraint & control
2 Animal Incident Report (AIR) Forms for First Responders – carbonless 3-part form
1 Pet Rescue Notice Form provided in electronic format – see link on your email order receipt
1 PowerPoint Presentation provided in electronic format – see link on your email order receipt
2 “Pet Oxygen Masks On Board” Decals (to display on vehicle or at station) included inside each kit
1 “Wag’N Instructional DVD Pets Need Oxygen Too” per kit
Hold a car wash with your neighbors with proceeds going to purchase oxygen mask kits for your local first responders. Have a bake sale. Ask everyone in your local area to donate $1 to help buy these masks. Pet Oxygen Masks save the lives of pets countless times a year but could be saving even more lives if more departments around the country could just reach into their truck and pull out the right size mask for the pet they just pulled from a fire.

Good idea!
