Thai Baby Saved By a Dog

Over the weekend a dog in Thailand saved a baby that was found in a garbage bag. The baby was in distress and born premature, still with it’s umbilical cord uncut was rushed to the local hospital by the dog’s family. When the baby was brought to the hospital it was determined it was born about 10 weeks premature weighed only 4lbs 8oz and needed oxygen and fluid as well as other routine neonatal care. The baby is now in stable condition in a hospital in the Muang District where they are better able to care for such a young baby.
Pui the two year old native Thai dog that saved the baby that was left in a bag at the local dump is being looked at as a hero by his family as well as the local Red Cross and Hospital where they baby was rushed. Pui the dog received a brand new leather collar and a medal from the local Red Cross for saving the baby and becoming a hero. Pui regularly goes for walks around the neighborhood visiting the dump and a few other favorite locations each day but has never done anything like this before. His family is crediting him for not only finding the baby but alerting them to his find in time to get the baby to the hospital to be given the care she needed.
As of this morning there were 5 families living in Thailand all who happen to be dog owners that have contacted authorities letting them know they would like to adopt the baby girl. Authorities will not say when or if the baby will become available for adoption but she already has many people wishing her well and wanting to give her a loving home.
The police have still not found or identified the mother of the abandoned baby girl but will continue to search. Police are asking anyone with information about the mother of the Thai baby saved by a dog to contact them.

Us dogs are great! What a wonderful ending to what could have been a tragic story!
