Pet Food Needed For Meals on Wheels Recipients
The aniMeals on Wheels program was founded so that home-bound seniors on Interfaith Ministries for Greater Houston’s Meals on Wheels for Greater Houston program would not feel compelled to share their limited food and resources with their four-legged friends. IM collects donated pet food that volunteers deliver each month to seniors.
Saturday, Interfaith Ministries is hosting is Fall Pet Food Drive to help home-bound seniors feed their dogs and cats. It actually started today but the drive closes at 6pm. Donations are necessary so that seniors don’t feel compelled to share their limited food and resources with their four-legged friends. The drive is taking place from 7 a.m.-6 p.m. today and 9 a.m.-12 p.m. on Saturday at 3217 Montrose Blvd.
Both wet and dry food is needed. Toys and treats will also be collected. The program, aniMeals on Wheels, is a completely donation and volunteer-driven program delivering more than 7,000-pounds of dog and cat food to more than 400 seniors every month.
If you are unable to donate dog or cat food, Interfaith Ministries will purchase product on your behalf. For approximately $180, you can feed a pet for a full year.
