Cooking for Dogs and Their Owners 12 Amazing Salmon Recipes

Cooking for Dogs and their Owners

There is a reason I am not a good bulk shopper I forget the most important part you have to separate it into smaller sizes before freezing which means I currently have a number of very large pieces of salmon in my freezer. Which wouldn’t be a problem only like I said I didn’t separate them and now they are frozen and stuck together which means I either need to have a lot of people over to eat my chunk of over 4lbs of salmon in one night or after defrosting the salmon I need to have something to do with it. While it might be nice to have over a bunch of people that would sort of defeat the post of buying so much salmon in the first place which was to stock up. I decided to reach out to some of my Blogging friends and ask if they had a great salmon recipe they would care to share that I would in turn share with all of you. Most of these recipes are not for dogs though there are a number that could be made more dog friendly by removing the onion or just not dressing the portion of the salmon that you are going to share with your dog (or cat).

Our friend Kolchak whose mommy does our cooking for dogs section made these yummy Sweet Potato and Salmon Bites which are great for dogs with sensitive or older dogs or even cats.

I decided 9 recipes weren’t enough and searched for something a little more exotic and different. With over 4 lbs of salmon and only me and the girls to eat it I figured the more choices I had the less bored I would get eating it and the more fun I would have in the kitchen.

I found this Smoked Salmon and Fingerling Potatoes appetizer from Coastal Living Magazine.

On Eating Well I found two very different salmon recipes Grilled Salmon & Zucchini with Red Pepper Sauce and their Moroccan Grilled Salmon

  4. I feed my dog baked salmon for his skin. He has dry skin and it helps him a lot. I actually cook for my dog because every dog food he ate made him sick. He has a very sensitive stomach and the vet said any kind of “fake” ingredients set him off. Therefore, I cook for him. Plus, with all the dog food recalls, I’ve become paranoid.
