Last Friday we received a package of Rachael Ray’s new Nutrish Naturally Delish wet dog food. According to the email we received to go along with the box with a container of each flavor they were only for Indiana to try out. We didn’t exactly listen and had a party instead so that Davinia, Indiana, my parents dog Whisper, and their cat Dora the Explorer could get in on the taste test action. Each container has 8 ounces of food in it that is meant to feed a dog that weighs between 9 – 12lbs if fed as their only meal. Since we just used it as a special treat along with their regular food they each only had a little bit and because we will be back at my parents tomorrow because my grandma is flying into town everyone will get to taste test another flavor one of the two Chicken ones and then Whisper is going to get to keep the Lamb based food.

Since this was a party Whisper got to choose which flavor everyone got to try since she doesn’t get special treats sent to her like the girls do. The only one she couldn’t choose was the one with lamb since Davinia has never liked anything with lamb I didn’t think it would be fair to put the food at a disadvantage to start with since she is the pickiest eater out of the group. Maybe that is why only Indiana was mentioned in the email they wanted to make sure that all the flavors got a favorable review.
The first thing I noticed when I opened the container was that the food was all identifiable it looked like Beef Stew with chunks of Beef and bits of vegetables. The girls have only gotten wet food a few times in their whole lives but no matter the brand I always feel grossed out and will do anything not to touch the food or gravy it comes in. Naturally Delish was different I actually pulled out a piece of the meat and split it in half to give the girls a bite to see what they thought before putting a spoonful into each of their bowls. I didn’t feel grossed out by touching it and the girls thought it was really good. The girls got their spoonful in their bowl on its own they really liked it and I know would have been happy to have a full container of it for dinner but i recently changed their food and I didn’t want them to get an upset tummy which is why we only had it as a treat. Whisper got hers mixed into her dinner and ate every drop. And Dora the Explorer the Cat got hers after her dinner so she was already pretty full but came over to check things out and had a bite walked away and then the next time I looked in her bowl it was all gone and she is the only one with access to it so she must have liked it as well. Whisper cleaned her bowl so well that it was shiny and looked like new after she was done so she got to lick out the container which you can see she also cleaned quite well. There are no pictures of Indiana and Davinia trying the food because they ate it so quickly there was nothing left by the time I picked the camera back up.
I don’t know that I would change the girls food to this on a daily basis especially because they each would need a bit more then one container per day and that would get rather pricey after a while but if I see it at the store and was looking around for a special treat for the girls this would absolutely be an option. As a topper that would last a dog a few days I think it is a great option to know is out there especially because all 4 of the flavors are all natural. No corn or wheat or soy and sourced in the US except for the Lamb which is sourced from Australia and New Zealand which produce really great quality meat even compared to the US. I was actually pretty surprised to learn that the lamb comes all the way from there considering how high quality their farm products are – when I lived in Hong Kong for a year i used to only drink milk from Australia or New Zealand and knew families that would only buy meat from there when you can get meat flown in from all over the world they felt it was the cleanest and healthiest.

Hi,
I can’t afford the real expensive dog food, with 4 dogs, so I switched to Rachel Ray…My Dogs LOVE it….I mix it with the Rachel Ray hard dog food. 🙂
Might have to get some of that to try with my Rita. Interesting about the lamb coming from Australia. I guess that makes sense since they are known for that. Sounds like they didn’t skimp on the ingredients!
