BOGO Bowl, We believe in Dog. BOGO Bowl is a brand new company that I think many of our readers would be interested in getting to know. Instead of me telling you about them I am going to let them tell you about what they do and why they do it.
What we do
We believe all dogs – whether they’re in their forever home or waiting to find one – deserve high quality nutrition. That’s why we make it easy for dog lovers to help at-risk dogs in their own communities by doing something they’re already doing – buying great food for their best friend! By working together, we keep loved dogs in their homes, and provide food to shelters and rescues giving dogs the time they need to find the perfect family. How cool is that?
Why we do it
To help animals, of course! But if you’re wondering how this came about, it’s a short story. Sara, our Chief Foodie, got together with some great women in 2009 and together they created an organization called The Pet Project Midwest whose mission is to keep pets with the people who love them (and out of shelters). They developed proactive programs to address the potential causes of separation before they become irreparable. One of those programs is a pet food pantry. Sara quickly discovered there are some programs to help shelters get the food they need for their charges, but not everyone is eligible and there’s not always enough to go around. And it is much harder for pet pantries to get food support. So she wondered if she could leverage the dollars she was spending feeding her own dogs (see below) to help the pantry. Surprise! Yes, she could. And that’s how – and why – BOGO Bowl came to be.
How we do it
One of the first questions we’re asked is if we’re going to sell in retail stores. Nope. Why not? Because the many layers of overhead involving selling via traditional retail channels would make it impossible to give food away at the volume we intend. So we sell directly to you, our favorite people who believe like we do that all dogs need good food, and that allows us to give lots and lots and lots of food away!
BOGO Bowl food comes in several formulas so you can pick the one that is right for your dog!
BOGO Bowl is offering 1 bag of their food to a winner and one bag to the winner’s choice of rescue / shelter. BOGO Bowl Food is sold in 20lb bags and if we use the formula that one bowl of food for a shelter dog is one lb then this bag will feed 20 dogs or feed a foster dog for 20 days allowing a family who might not have the extra money for extra food to foster a dog since as rescues rely on their foster to pay for food themselves!
