Deaf and Blind 14 Year Old Dog Stolen Friday Night

A friend of a friend is asking for your help locating her dog that was stolen on Friday night from the Pinecrest Area of Miami. Shadow was stolen sometimes between 7:00pm and 11:00pm around the vicinity of 106 street and 84 avenue. The thieves might have taken her in hopes of reward money.

Here is what the owner has to say: On Friday night while I was out to dinner, my 14 year old Border Collie/Golden Retriever mix dog was stolen. Shadow, was removed from her backyard where she was enjoying the evening. Someone hoisted her over my fence, removed her collar and tossed the collar back into my yard. She is deaf has cataracts in her eyes, 30 lbs, fluffy, friendly and very much missed…If you see her please contact me, I am heartbroken ….

Shadow is a 14 year old dog that has never wondered off, the backyard is super fenced and has gates with locks. There were no dug holes, no spaces in the fence, and the gates were still locked. Coupled with the fact that she has very little vision and is deaf she has no interest of going beyond the yard that she knows so well. Someone removed her colar and tossed it back into the yard, she would have never been able to remove her collar on her own….The police were called and went out to investigate they agreed Shadow the Dog was stolen out of her yard. The owner spent all day Saturday putting up signs around her neighborhood, posted on Craigslist, left information at all of the local Vets, Starbucks, and posted at intersections….everywhere she could think of…but she need help from everyone to find Shadow as she was taken and didn’t just wander off on an adventure. Shadow’s information has been shared with various rescue groups around Miami but the more her information is shared the more likely it is that someone will know something and her owner will get her back.

The night that Shadow was taken, she let all her dogs out in the yard for their usual 30 min playtime after dinner. When she called them to come back inside, she was the only one that didn’t want to come in, she was patrolling the property as she usually does, looked at me and kept sniffing around and having fun. She is an inside dog, with the hot Miami sun, all of her dogs are…but she does go out for bathroom duties…she loves it out there with all the lizards, birds and squirrels that she can smell and hunt for, so Shadow’s owner let her stay and be a dog enjoying the evening until she would return from dinner. She put out a fresh bowl of water with some ice cubes for her on the back porch and left the house.
