Man Arrested for DWI Baby Zebra and Macaw in Truck

Officers arrested 56-year-old Jerald Reiter on Sunday night in the parking lot of the Dog House bar. Officers gave him a field sobriety test and charged him with drunken driving. When officers arrived on the scene they found a Baby Zebra and a Macaw in the truck. Reiter said that he and his partner see the animals like their kids and often take them for rides. On Sunday night, they say they took the zebra and the macaw to the bar because staff often lets people bring their animals inside. The bar’s owner, however, said animals are never allowed inside the bar.

Reiter said the bar’s owner told him they were serving food that night and he couldn’t bring a zebra inside the bar. I would love to know when you can ever bring a Zebra into a bar or exactly why you would want to. Maybe for a day out at the park or in the woods but why a bar. Actually the better question is why do you own a baby zebra and where did it come from. I can’t imagine there being many Zebra breeders out there producing them so was it a stolen animal or one that was taken from the wild. Yes I am glad the man was not allowed to drive while intoxicated but I think the fact that he thought it was a good idea to bring the Zebra to a bar just because he might have seen someone bring their dog is something that needs to be evaluated.
