2 1/2 cups whole wheat flour
2 eggs
1/2 cup canned pumpkin
2 tablespoons all natural peanut butter (not the kind with corn syrup)
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
Whisk together the flour, eggs, pumpkin, peanut butter, salt, and cinnamon in a bowl. Add water as needed to help make the dough workable, but the dough should be dry and stiff. Roll the dough into a 1/2-inch-thick roll. Cut into 1/2-inch pieces.
Bake in preheated oven until hard, about 40 minutes.
Depending on the elevation of your location and the humidity level you might need to add some liquid water would work or 100% fruit juice other then grape juice add it into the mixture slowly. You can always add more but can’t take it out.
Another option is to do half pumpkin and half sweet potato or even all sweet potato. These cookies will not turn out hard and crunchy but will be a favorite treat anyway.
Davinia and Indiana don’t care if their treats are crunchy or chewy as long as they are yummy. We think your dog will probably agree.
