Woman Runs Over Park Ranger After Being Told to Leash Her Dog

Dog leash law

I am all for dogs being allowed in any and all green places. They need the fresh air and new experiences just as much as we do. But I hate it when people don’t follow the leash law whether in a park or in your neighborhood. I get it you want to be able to allow your dog to run loose once in a while and you might not have a back yard and the local dog park might be overrun with not so responsible people repeatedly throwing their Bully Breed into the pond when they clearly want nothing to do with the water. Trust me I get it. But your dog can have a great time on leash too. Getting to go new places, meeting new people, smelling trees and flowers, experience nature, feeling different things under their paws. What doesn’t help your dog is when someone comes up to you and tells you to leash your dog because it is the rule in that area or even the law and you start an argument.

One woman took it even further over the weekend and literally ran her car into the park rangers who asked her to leash her dog. Yes rules change and what was once an off leash park might now be leashes only. And yes your dog might actually be well behaved and have great recall and be an obedience champion but that doesn’t mean you don’t have to follow the rules. By not following the rules whether it is picking up poo or leashing your dog you ruin it for everyone else. By creating a problem it makes park caretakers not want any dog at the park and in some cases it is the reason why dogs after years of being able to run free somewhere are no longer able to. If you choose to ignore the rule and get caught apologize.

  1. rules were meant for a reason…i know my pit hates being on his leash but there is still a lot of fun to be had with the leash on

  2. I see your perpsective but have to share how much it infuriates me to see people getting tickets in our local park for playing ball with their dogs off leash. I have never once seen dogs fight or bother a human in our park, and it’s mainly the homeowners who border the park who want to take their dogs out there and play ball. I feel like government is getting too involved in our lives if we can’t even make decisions about our own community park and how we use it. I’m in favor of control laws, where a human can be prosecuted and fined if their dog is a nuisance in any way, but whether a not a dog is on leash should be an owner’s decision and responsibility.

I just can’t imagine..over having to put her dog on a leash. Can you imagine how she might react in a worse situation? wow!

I really hate dog owners who let there dogs run off leash where they are not supposed to. I have a cocker spaniel who has been attacked twice by off leash dogs and I cannot stand those people who stand there (as their large dog charges up on my leashed dog) saying it is okay he/she is friendly. (this applies to small dogs as well)
    1) you have no idea how the other dog and person feels about being in this situation and it is completely rude and inconsiderate
2)no matter how reliable/good you think your dog is no dog is perfect

Every park has rules for a reason. If you don’t like the rules then you should go to a different park. I can’t belive she ran over the park ranger just because he asked her to put her dog on a leash. What is wrong with people these days. Using leashes are for your dogs on safety and other people around.
