Each year 5 dogs from each breed are invited to attend Westminster. These are the dogs that have routinely won shows throughout the year and won big bringing them to the top of their respective breed lists. These are dogs that should absolutely be the ones you watch for when it comes time for the Group Ring on Monday and Tuesday night.
America’s #4 Pharaoh and #1 Pharaoh Hound bitch for 2011. All of her points, came from the Bred-by class. With very limited coursing opportunities thus far, she completed her AKC Field Championship with two 5-pt and one 3-pt majors, multiple BOB wins (including the prestigious Best of the Best of Breed at the 2008 National Lure Coursing Championships), and so far, 2 AKC Best in Field to her credit.
Qing has caught the eye of bet makers and the belief is that he will be the one taking home Best of Breed at Westminster this week.

America’s #2 Pharaoh Hound for 2010!* A Top 5 Pharaoh for 2011. He finished quickly and easily with 3 majors, including WD at the 2009 National Specialty from the Bred-by class, and he has both of his majors in AKC lure coursing, as well as in training for eventual obedience competition.
I chose to post about the Pharaoh Hounds in order to introduce you to one of the top contenders for winning the Hound Group and going on to the Best in show ring. It is a long shot as Pharaoh Hounds have never made it that far but it is a possibility. Good luck to all of the dogs who have entered and even get to set their paws on the carpet at Madison Square Garden.
