Men Love Dogs Too and We Bake!!

If you were checking out Two Little Cavaliers on Sunday you may have noticed Cooking with Dogs! So this week on Men Love Dogs Too I will be sharing one of the first treat recipes I ever cooked for Luna. Yes that’s right… I’ll be the first to admit that I’m a guy that bakes!

Luna loves food, but I’m very picky about what treats she actually eats. In reality, I don’t want to be giving Luna junk food, so that’s why I decided to start baking my own treats. The first thing I made? Peanut Butter and Carrot Biscuits! Luna loves peanut butter, and she loves carrot, so I thought, why not put them in a biscuit?

Luna’s Homemade Peanut Butter and Carrot Biscuits!
(originally posted:

Ingredients
2 Cups of Wholemeal Flour
1 1/2 Heaped Teaspoons of Baking Powder
1 Egg
2 medium sized Carrots (grated)
1/2 cup of Natural Peanut Butter (it’s 100% Peanuts!)
1/4 cup of Pineapple Juice (optional extra)

Method
-Preheat a fan forced oven to 180 Degrees Celsius (for those in the US I am sure your regular oven will work just fine its what we are used to and your dog will never notice a difference)
-In a bowl mix the flour and baking powder
-In a separate bowl mix the Egg, Grated Carrot, Peanut Butter and Pineapple juice. Stir until all combined.
-Add the wet mixture to the dry mixture and mix well; it will form into a dough.
-It may be easier to use your paws for this, I made daddy use his hands, work the mix til it all comes together and then transfer to a piece of baking paper with a sprinkling of flour on it.
-Continue to work the dough til it is nice and together, then roll out to desired thickness.
-Cut out the shapes and place on baking tray lined with baking paper.
-Cook for 10-15 minutes until nicely golden brown.
-They can either be soft or crunchy depending on how long you cook them, if you like your biscuits a bit crunchier then cook them for an extra few minutes.
-Allow them to cool before eating, Delicious!
-This mix made lots of cookies, so some are in the cupboard, some in the freezer and some in the fridge.
-For a warm day, or just for something a little special, these are delicious straight out of the freezer!

Luna was very happy with the result, and I was happy that I knew what was going into her treats!

Thanks for joining me on Men Love Dogs Too, I hope that if you try this recipe your pup enjoys them as much as Luna does, I would love to see some pics if you do try it out as well! Just leave a comment here!
