Sacramento Animal Shelter Needs Food For for Its Pet Food Pantry

Sacramento’s animal shelter is seeking donations to its food pantry because the cupboard is almost empty. The pantry has been hit hard lately with requests from dog and cat owners who need food for their pets. The pantry is a collaboration of the Sacramento City Shelter, the Sacramento County Shelter and the Sacramento SPCA. Pet owners in need of assistance may go to any of the three sites to ask for help with pet food, according to a press release from the city.

The city shelter gives out about 3,000 pounds of food a week and with the colder weather setting in more demand is being placed on already limited resources. If you live in the area you can deliver food to the animal shelter at 2127 Front St. from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday.

I may have an update as to how people who do not live in the area can help out later today. If so I will let everyone know. Until then please share this with your friends and family that live in the area.

Thank you to the Sacramento Bee for this information.
