The police dog, known as Ty, was last seen early Saturday morning in Kansas City, Mo. near the Kansas City Water Services building. Around 4 a.m. Saturday, the dog jumped from a patrol car. A spokesperson for the police department said the officer and K-9 were on duty and, as he approached a suspicious vehicle parking behind a building, the K-9 jumped out of the patrol car and sprinted out of sight.
The K-9 is described as a 22-month-old brown and tan Belgian Malinois, which resembles a German Shepherd. The K-9 was wearing a black, nylon collar. Police believe that Ty could be in the woods near the Water Works Park on the bluff overlooking the Missouri River. Ladd said what’s most important is if anyone sees the police dog, they are advised to not approach it; K-9 dogs are trained police dogs and should only be approached by the handlers.
