A man who slit his puppy’s throat and left her to bleed to death was jailed for five months yesterday and banned from keeping animals for life. Robert Humphries, 40, did not want to pay a £70 bill to have the family pet put down by a vet and did the job himself in his garden. The man who was a former Butcher and used two knives. He claims to have used both knives to slit the 6 month old dog’s throat and when she was able to crawl away and crying he stabbed her repeatedly in the ribs to try and kill her.
According to the RSPCA investigation there was no evidence of any injuries to show that Shadow had attacked either Humphries or his daughter. Apparently his wife helped him killed the dog as he asked her to pass him a kitchen knife and grabbed Shadow the dog by the collar starting to cut her. When he saw that was not going to be enough he asked his wife for a second knife. It doesn’t seem liked he wanted to be bothered even bringing the dog to the vet and filling out paperwork to have them put her down for free.When the veterinary receptionist called the Humphries to tell them that not only would they be able to Euthanize the dog for free but had called a charity willing to pay the dogs disposal fee the staff was told that the dog’s not quite dead yet and that they were waiting for her to bleed out before bagging the dog up and bringing her in.
Humphries has since separated from his wife and is involved in a custody battle for access to his daughter.
That’s AWEFUL. Why would she have been put down? She was only 6 months old. That’s not fair. Somebody could have found a good home for her. That man needs to burn in hell. I hope he does. How do people get away with this!!!????
