Baggage Handler Fired for Not Loading Injured Dog Onto Plane

“I just couldn’t turn my back on that dog,” she said. “My supervisor said it wasn’t my concern, but animal abuse is everyone’s concern who sees it.”

Lynn Jones, told the Reno Gazette-Journal that she couldn’t in good conscious put the dog on the plane for shipment to Texas because its paws were bloody its body was covered with sores it looked severely underweight and was acting lethargic laying down and not moving much. She said the airport police called Regional Animal Services, which took custody of the dog and nursed it back to health before putting it on a plane back to its owner. Jones on the other hand was fired immediately for disregarding a direct order from a supervisor.

CEO of the Reno-Tahoe Airport Authority, said she was proud of how airport police intervened and contacted Animal Services. In all the years she has been with the airport she said she has never heard of an animal in worse condition trying to be shipped. She feels that this situation was handled properly and is glad the dog was not put on the plane. That still didn’t get Jones her job back back maybe it will get her a positive recommendation from the airport for a new one.

  1. I’m really glad she did the right thing, but it’s a little ridiculous that she lost her job because of it. People can be so confusing sometimes.

  2. Obviously the superviser was more concerned about the money than the animal. Koduz to Lynn for being a concerned human. We need more like her.

  3. How horrible that she lost her job. šŸ™

  4. Wow. What a story. I wonder who was trying to ship a dog in this condition anyhow!!
