I thought it would be fun to do something a little different for our pets now that the Holiday Season is here and decided the most fun way to do it would be with a regressive dinner. Our dinner will not actually take place all in one night but will go through the Holiday Season. We started with Treats and Dessert on Halloween. Doing our main course for Thanksgiving. Enjoying soup, salad, sides for Christmas. And to top off the festivities cocktails and appetizers for New Years Eve! You can choose to join in one night, some nights, or the entire event and be sure to encourage your friends to participate. The more participants the more fun this Regressive Dinner will be.

How it is going to work is that you post a recipe with pictures and we all go around to check out what everyone came up with. The recipes can be just for our pets or it can be something that we can share with our pets. You are welcome to join us no matter what kind of pet you have.

Making a special dinner for your pet does not have to involve slaving in the kitchen all day or preparing anything from scratch. You can even serve your dog the same thing you are serving your family for dinner just remember your dog does not need the sauce or extra seasonings. As long as you are not trying to home-cook as an alternative to store bought foods creating a balanced meal does not have to be a stressor or a reason not to cook for your pet.

CHICKEN RICE and BROCCOLI DINNER

 Ingredients:

Chicken Nuggets / Chicken Pattie / Turkey Pattie

Frozen Broccoli

Pre-Made Rice

Garlic Powder

Olive Oil / Flax Seed Oil / Salmon Oil

Heat chicken nuggets in oven or microwave until fully cooked. When I made this for the girls I used 4 chicken nuggets each and cut them into about 8 pieces each so that you can mi them into the rice.

Broccoli can be heated in the microwave or on the stove top with garlic powder. If you are using the stove you can add a drop of oil at this point or when you mix everything together. After heating use a knife to cut the broccoli into small pieces. Big pieces will tend to be picked up out of the food and put on the floor.

Rice should be pre-made so that you can just let it get to room temperature or it will be too hot for your dog to eat and take too long to cool off.

Mix all of the ingredients together and serve. There are no exact measurements as this is meant to be an occasional treat and not an everyday balanced meal. Remember the breading on the nuggets will provide some carbohydrates so you will not need to use as much rice as if you were using a chicken breast and cutting it up.

* You can also use a bag of mixed vegetables just be sure there isn’t any onion in the mix.

** Unfortunately our pictures didn’t turn out at all due to a camera mishap. Mainly me forgetting I had be using the action setting on the camera all day and not setting it to a more appropriate setting for taking a picture of a non moving object.
