Stop Your Puppy From Eating the House

Control the environment. Carefully pet-proof your house to ensure that your puppy can’t get to objects he or she might be tempted to chew. If it’s not there, they can’t eat it.

Catch him / her in the act. If you catch your puppy with an inappropriate item in their mouth, immediately take it out and replace it with an acceptable toy for them to chew.

Provide a selection of different kinds of toys. Try some new varieties of chew toys to determine what your dog likes best.

Never give your puppy an old shoe to chew on they will not understand the difference between an old shoe and a new one. Same goes for socks and other clothing.

Training. Obedience training gives your dog a way to engage their brains about and can reduce behavior problems. Try teaching them the commands “leave it” and “give” so you can get inappropriate items away from them. Remember to have something else to offer them.

Dog puzzles, kongs, and interactive toys considered enrichment items are great to help keep your puppy from being bored.

Exercise is so important some breeds need much more exercise then others learn about your breed and what they need. Make sure to provide your puppy with adequate daily physical exercise. A dog that has been well-exercised is more relaxed and gets into much less trouble.

Crate train your puppy. When you are out this will be their safe place to stay where they have a comfy bed, some water, and maybe a toy or two. They will get used to it and come to love being in there where you know they will be safe from hazards and your house will be safe from them.
