Stolen Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Returned 16 Months Later

Molly with a very happy mom who is overjoyed to have her back home after 15 months

Molly the cavalier King Charles Spaniel is back at home with Tom and Andrea Richards in Tenby 16 months after she escaped from her house and within minutes was stolen.

She was snatched from the seaside resort and sold to unsuspecting new owners 300 miles away in Doncaster. But when Molly was taken to a vet after swallowing a horse chestnut she was routinely scanned by the staff there and the microchip listed her as stolen. This was the first time her new family learned anything about Molly’s ordeal and they were devastated.

Horse Chestnuts also known as conkers

Molly was a 10-month-old puppy when she went missing in May 2010 after running out of the house and into a nearby car park. The family ran out after her and asked the car park attendant had he seen Molly. That is when they were told some people had put Molly in their car and said they were going to take her to the vet. From what the Richards can tell she never made it to any vet because they had put up signs offered a reward called around to clinics, and even had a page on Facebook to try and get her back.

No one knows where Molly was for 12 months after she was stolen though they know her microchip was never scanned. She was purchased by the family she was with in April 2011. The family that purchased her had no idea she was stolen and that her family had done everything they could think of to get her back.

Molly’s new family returned Molly to her original owners but were very sad to loose such a special sweet girl. The Richards are over joyed that they have their Cavalier back but sad that the people who had Molly since April had to be put through this ordeal as well. Through no fault of their own they lost the dog that had become a part of their family.

  1. Sad for the new owners, but great for the original owners. This just shows how important microchipping your pet is. Thanks for sharing! :0)

  2. It’s so sad when other people steal other people’s dogs. My friend had her 4 Pomeranian Puppies stolen, and it was so hard for her. What I find most sad is that people see the need to steal other people’s dog, when there are thousands of good dog’s in shelters, who need homes :'(

I do feel extremely bad for the new owners who lost her, but I am very happy for her old owners, who got her back 🙂

I wanted to stop by to thank you for stopping by my blog. I just started using StumbleUpon – So I’m glad to see it helps 😀
I have been a long time follower of your blog. I love your posts like these, that really make a difference. People need to know whats going on in the world, for animals too!
