Tommy the Dutch Shepard is a 7 year old Police who is in need of help. Until recently, he was a police dog, working for the City of Tiffin. Tiffin is a small community of roughly 18,000 residents located in Seneca County (Northwest Ohio). Tiffin is conveniently located between the metropolises of Toledo, Cleveland and Columbus.
Tommy was diagnosed with lymphoma and retired from duty so that he could fight this disease. Without treatment, he will only have 2 months left to live at best. He can beat the disease, but only with YOUR help see when Tommy was retired the city decided they were not responsible for his full medical bills which has now fallen on his former handler now owners shoulders.
K9 Tommy spent his life protecting his community only to be tossed out when he needed their help. There is treatment available for Lymphoma, but it very expensive. If Tommy undergoes the 25 week chemotherapy regiment, there is a 93% chance of remission of the cancer. The median remission length is 13 months. So overall, this treatment, if effective, will give him a lifespan around 18 – 19 months. Some cases the remission is shorter and some dogs never get the cancer again. Another option is just to give him a drug called Prednisone, and if only on that drug, that would extend his life only to about 6 months from now. If untreated, Tommy’s Lymphoma will be fatal in less than 2 months.
