A Kansas City man has been charged with two counts of DUI and one count of animal abuse after he ran over a dog on purpose.
Angelica Anderson let out her brother’s English Bulldog, Zoey, Monday morning when she saw a black car sitting at the end of her driveway. The car then took off and into the grass where the dog was walking around. The driver ran over the dog and just kept going. The dog while badly injured was not in critical condition but did need to see the vet and was diagnosed with a compression fracture which will heal over time but will likely cause pain throughout her life. Zoey is home recovering but needs a lot of rest to help heal her back.
The man was arrested soon after the hit and run when the sheriffs deputy smelled alcohol on his breath and saw empty vodka bottles strewn around the car. Authorities are stunned as they have never had to deal with a case where someone intentionally ran over a dog.
The drunk could face up to two years in jail if convicted. The family is just glad that Zoey didn’t die and that the and that the driver didn’t veer even further onto the grass towards the house and run over Angelica or crash into the house where other members of the family were.
Personally, I think he’s one sickio. People hide behind alcohol to do the things they think they can get away with. I hope they throw away his cell key!
