The 4th Annual Spooky Pooch Parade in Lakewood, Ohio is known as the “Largest Halloween Dog Parade from Coast to Coast”! According to event organizers the Parade has been so successful in the past that they think they have a very good chance of making it into the Guinness World Record for the ‘Most Dogs in Costume’. The current record stands at 603. So if you are in the area and want to participate they would love for you to join them.
The Spooky Pooch Parade starts at at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 15. But feel free to arrive anytime after 12:30 to hang out and visit all of the vendors. Prizes will be awarded for: Spookiest Pooch, Most Creative Dog and Child, Most Original Adult and Dog, Best Group Theme with Dogs, Non-motorized Float with Dogs and Best Dog in Show. All dogs must be registered in the parade to win a prize and to count towards the Guinness World Record! To register your dog you can do so online at www.DowntownLakewood.org. If you register online you will receive the discounted fee of $10 per dog adults and children are free and are welcome to dress up as well. If you don’t have a dog or do have a dog that just would not be impressed the organizers say they have thousands of spectators come out to see the dogs and you are welcome to join them.
It’s not just a parade as dozens of vendors will be there with everything from Canine Couture, special treats, fancy collars and leashes, and other great new products. There will also be doggy demos, pup protection and a variety services for the dogs as well as food and drinks for humans. Camera and videos are allowed at the event.
Don’t have a dog and are looking to bring one into your family? There will be several rescue groups for the “Meet Your Mutt”–part of the event where you can meet and greet a variety of dogs available for adoption.

Day-of, on-site registration is $15.00 at 1347 St. Charles Avenue, Lakewood, Ohio 44017. All entries must be registered by 1:45 p.m., Oct. 15, 2011.
