Pet parents can select the best deShedding solution for their pet’s specific hair length, size and life stage. The FURminator line enables pet caretakers to more easily find the right product for their furry friend with options based on the size of the pet, including toy, small, medium, large and giant breed dogs. In addition, each size tool offers both long and short hair varieties for optimal results for your pet.
FURminator’s products include cat deShedding tools, available in long and short hair models, for both small and large cat sizes. “Cat owners – and their more than 90 million feline companions – will benefit from the deShedding process,” “FURminator provides cat parents with optimum effectiveness and the most efficient method of preventing hairball development.”
The deShedding tools are also available for small pets, such as rabbits and ferrets. Hairball prevention is an even greater challenge for these animals who do not have the ability to expel hairballs as easily as cats. FURminator deShedding Tools help these pets avoid discomfort due to hairballs and prevent potentially life-threatening digestive problems.

I figured what better time to do a Giveaway for a FURminator then when I know all the dogs, cats, rabbits and other small animals out there are shedding their summer coat in anticipation of growing in their winter coat so they are better equipped to handle the cold winter months ahead. I have actually gotten several emails and a call from concerned pet owners saying their pets are loosing all their fur and they can’t figure out why since they don’t see any bald patches and their pet isn’t scratching their fur off. There is nothing wrong with your pet they are just “blowing their coat”. This is something that happens twice each year and perfectly natural to allow your pet to acclimate for the coming season. If you don’t brush your dogs coat each day and even if you do in some cases you will find giant fur balls all over your house it will seem like you just vacuumed them all up and they are back that’s how quickly your pet is shedding dead undercoat.
With the right size and shape FURminator for your pet you can dramatically reduce the amount of fur flying around your house. Just keep brushing using the FURminator until the tool comes up pretty clean. For those of you who are worried about all that fur coming out you can rest easy knowing you are just pulling out the dead undercoat which will leave your pets coat looking shiny and healthy. You might get a few longer hairs from the topcoat but for the most part you are just clearing out dead undercoat. Out in the wild a dog or cat or other animals would rub against trees or rocks to help remove the dead undercoat which is why you find their fur all over the house when the rub up against something some of the dead coat comes out. The FURminator just makes that process less messy for you and your pet. Plus everyone who I know that owns one swears by it. They go outside with the tool, their, pet, and a garbage bag and have a nice time in the fresh air having a grooming party.
FURminators are great for families with pets where someone in the house has allergies to pet dander because it can help along with a regular bath schedule dramatically reduce the amount of dander being dropped around the house. There will certainly be less animal fur flying around in the air. You will need a bigger or smaller garbage bag depending on the size and breed of your pet.

I have a tri color collie named Harley. He sheds constantly. I brush him everyday and he tries to escape. If he sees me looking at him, he runs away. I use an undercoat comb, but it does not seem to work. I would really love to have the furminator

I have a black lab named Star who is 12 years old and medium sized. I also have a 5 year old small rat terrier/chihuahua mix named Lusi and a small 14 year old cairn terrier named Max.
I am a Dog Sitter so I have tons of temporary pets but none of my own. One of my favorite dogs, Lady, is a very large Ridgeback mix. She visits me once a month for about a week while her mom travels, so I like to think of myself as the cool Aunt. During Lady’s last stay, I borrowed a Furminator and it did wonders for her coat. She’ll be back next month and I’d certainly like a Furminator of my own!

I have two dogs that are big shedders. Shiloh is a 2yo Shetland Sheepdog- but he’s a huge sheltie at 20inches tall and 40lbs (not overweight!). Cheyenne is an 11yo collie/border collie mix and though bigger than Shiloh, weighs about the same. I’d consider both dogs medium sized, and both have long hair. We get the furminator treatment every month at the groomers, and have our own brush at home. But I’d love to donate my current gently used brush to a local rescue group as this brush has the ejector button. (I’ve been interested in buying the furminator vacuum attachment, but it requires the brush with the ejector button).
