
Otis, the skydiving pug just touched the ground once again 64th tandem jump going along for the ride with his owner Will DaSilva who is an accomplished skydiver and parachute rigger. DaSilva, came up with the idea to take Otis up for his first parachute jump so he could share his hobby with his dog. He talked to a parachute rigger who made a custom-fit harness for Otis, a papoose that hung loose around his chest that made with the same precautions as a human harness would be made with. He bought Otis a pair of ‘doggles,’ so he wouldn’t injure his eyes, and took the pug up for his first low-altitude dive used for a human’s first skydiving experience ‘hop and pop’ maneuver.
The dog loved it, “he’s totally aware of what’s happening when he free falls. Just like any skydiver he gets all excited about it and gets nervous at the door right before the jump. “Once he’s out [of the plane] though he’s just having a ball like a dog with its head out of the car window,” he said.
